Our partnership with Thread Together

10 Dec 2020

Thread Together is a unique organisation whose mission and focus is to source new clothing from fashion retailers and redistributes items to those in our communities that need it most.

This includes women escaping domestic violence, homeless adults and children, and those who just arrived in the country seeking refuge.

Hundreds of Australian fashion retailers donate excess stock to Thread Together, including brands and partners of Afterpay, such as THE ICONIC, Bec + Bridge, P.E. Nation, Under Armour, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Bendon Lingerie and Retail Apparel Group. This has resulted in tonnes of new clothing being diverted from landfill to date and cemented Thread Together’s role as the highest ethical response to the textile waste problem in Australia.

Afterpay began partnering with Thread Together in May 2020 to support those impacted by the bushfires and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Afterpay is now Thread Together’s principal partner as part of a long-term partnership which is part of Afterpay’s mission to power an economy where everyone wins. We continue to support Thread Together’s activities, recently launching an initiative of a targeted “Add $1” campaign which enables purchasers shopping with Afterpay the option of adding $1 to their purchase to go straight to Thread Together.

Just $5 provides a new wardrobe for someone doing it tough.

Afterpay will continue to support Thread Together, and has committed to ensuring it receives $200,000 annually minimum.
